Responding Instead of Reacting

[progressally_objectives]-Between stimulus and response there isThis quote by Victor Frankl is one of my favorites. To me, this is so much of what mindfulness is about — finding SPACE. Finding space for reflection, for breath, for rest, for self-care.

As mothers, the thing we probably want even more than time is SPACE. It is space that allows us to choose the calm, compassionate response instead of the automatic and less skillful one.

SPACE is the heart of “Calm Mama” week. When we can find space — through retroactive practice, through the breath, through emotional awareness, through identifying our triggers, through understanding ourselves — we can be the mom we want to be.
